Jessica Kessler

Jessica Kessler (she/her, *1999, Herrenberg) is a communication designer, illustrator, and artistic researcher. During her studies at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG Karlsruhe), she developed a community-based design practice grounded in the belief that design can foster connection, dialogue, and community care. She is the co-founder of the Illustration Club at HfG Karlsruhe and organises workshops and collaborative formats that foster creative exchange and community.

Being half-Filipina, she explores diasporic identity, cultural memory, and belonging through graphic design, illustration, photography, and collective practices. Her work examines the lasting effects of colonialism, imperialism, and racism while reconnecting personal and collective histories.

Beyond her artistic practice, she is involved with initiatives including Alpas Pilipinas and Meltingpot Collective Heidelberg. Her work has been exhibited at the Badischer Kunstverein and the Städtische Galerie Rastatt.
